I'm pretty sure you are planning on getting a desktop, in which case I
suggest getting a small buisness box from dell, I've had good
experiences with them. But if you are planning on getting a laptop,
take a look at http://www.linux-laptop.net/ they have pages for most
laptops with peoples personal experiences installing linux. It's
great resources for finding what works and what doesn't.
