Here's how I do it on Ubuntu 7.10.
>From the "Places" menu, select "Connect to Server".
In the dialog that appears there is a drop down box
for "Service Type"; select "SSH".
In the "Server" field enter "vogon.csc.calpoly.edu".
In the "Username" field enter your username, e.g. "jstudent".
Leave the "Folder" field blank and it will start at your home folder.
Enter an optional "Name to use for connection" if desired.
Click "Connect". A new network folder icon appears on your desktop.
Double-click the icon. An authentication dialog appears.
Enter your vogon password, click "Connect".
A file browser appears showing your vogon file system.
You may leave this icon on your desktop between sessions.
If you want to remove it, right-click it and choose "unmount volume".
